{Bake} Chocolate Covered Peanut Butter Balls

I grew up eating my fair share of peanut butter balls thanks to my grandma.  She made them for every holiday and special occasion and always managed to hide a few just for me in the fridge for later.  I am happy to share her recipe with all of you because when you have something good, you share it with the world....and these my friends are good!


  • 2 cups creamy peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 3-3/4 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 3 cups crisp rice cereal
  • 4 cups (24 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • Directions

    1. In a large bowl, beat peanut butter and butter until blended; gradually beat in confectioners' sugar until smooth. Stir in cereal. Shape into 1-in. balls. Refrigerate until chilled.
    2. In a microwave, melt chocolate chips and 1/4 cup shortening; stir until smooth. Dip balls into chocolate; allow excess to drip off. Place on a waxed paper-lined pan. Let stand until set. 
    3. Refrigerate until set. Makes6 dozen. 


Carefully put a few in a wax paper lined box or wrap each one individually with wax paper and tie with a sweet ribbon.  These make for the best gifts or as delicious dessert for all occasions.
